Waters of central Europe

The route starts at the world-famous Zell am See, which has a train station with high-frequency connections to Salzburg.  From there it initially follows the Tauern cycle path running east through the towns of Taxenbach, St. Johann im Pongau, Radstadt and, facing Mount Dachstein, Schladming.  Here you join the famous Ennsradweg, where a short stop at the famous Admont Abbey is recommended before continuing to the small village of Selzthal.

Futuristic-looking Kunsthaus

The next part of the journey is on the Rastland cycle path to St. Michael in Upper Styria, where you change to the Murradweg. This runs downstream through small villages, but also historic towns such as Leoben, Bruck an der Mur and Graz.

Graz is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and UNESCO City of design and is worth more than a stopover. The Design District on the west side around the futuristic-looking Kunsthaus and the old town with the Schlossberg must simply be explored in more detail.

From Graz you cycle on the Mostwärts cycle path over the Laßnitzhöhe to Gleisdorf, where you change to the Raabtal cycle path. Artisanal food manufacturers vineyards, romantic villages as well as small towns like Gleisdorf or Feldbach will be crossed. Finally, it visits southern Burgenland for a few kilometers before reaching the border near Szentgotthard (Hungary), where EuroVelo 14 crosses into Hungary where, via Balaton and Budapest, it ends to Debrecen (Note: completion of the route in Hungary is planned by the end of 2020 but section from Szentgotthard to Velence is already open).
